McCall's 6796 November Garment of the Month

I have been on a "staycation" and got quite a few things sewn, including my originally plan garment of the month.  I used fabric that was about a year old and purchased from EmmaOneSock.  Because of the design of the fabric, I used a single layer layout for cutting out the front and back.

I was happy that my pattern layout worked and have side seams align with the pattern design.  I chose to put the floral part of the fabric at the bottom with the intent of having less side seam alignment .
Here is a shot of the side seam when I was in the work in progress phase.
And here is the final garment on a hanger.  I am not photo ready this morning to take final shots of the finished garment.

Next up????????- something a little more challenging that the recent tops I made which you can read about here.

MC 5989 November Edition 11.26.2014

This was a very simple garment to make
took me 3 hours total.I love the length. Nothing I enjoy more than extra long pants..My grey and white bootie-socks are amazing.

Not sure If I will keep the pants though or trash them. I accidentally serged through them and created 2 holes.

.

I was supposed to make this in an african print but did not want to spare any and I am happy that I did not.

Errors :I managed to serge holes in my pants..Only 2 holes one in the front and one in the lower back :/

The not too pricey November outfit

Hello !

I've just finished my outfit for the month.
The top is made of the fabric coming from a big skirt (forgot to take a "before" picture).
The skirt comes from a dress (that I bought 15 years ago.).
I lined it with a recycled bedsheet.
I bought a brand-new zipper though !
Both patterns are Lutterloh's.
I think the skirt will be very useful since I'll be able to wear it with most of my printed tops.

Happy sewing to everyone !

November Challenge Done and Dusted!

Go me... this was actually finished about 10 days ago! But in typical Dawn-style, it took ages to get around to doing the photos! I confess I kind of rushed to get this finished as we are away on holiday atm, and I so wanted to get it done in time so I could bring it with me.

This is McCalls 7026 View C but without the shaped hem at the back. I sort of cut it off on the pattern by mistake.... oopps! You can read more about this top and see photos of the matching skirt that I also made, on My Blog HERE

December's theme.

Hello everyone,

I know most of us are finishing our November garments - or haven't yet started -or won't be making one at all -  but I thought I should get December's theme up early.  Most people get busy with Thanksgiving in America, and Christmas elsewhere.  So I thought I would give you all advance notice so you could fit this theme into your sewing timeline.

Of course, as always, you can always make something else that you want or need to make.

I'll be away for a few days soon, so will be updating the November Gallery when I get back.

Happy sewing everyone,

Sarah Liz

BurdaStyle Jacket In Progress

Hello..
I am making a black jacket for my November MAGAM. For the pattern, I am using  BurdaStyle Jacket 09/2014 size 36 and for the fabrics, I am using 2 yards of linen in black color and 2 yards of gingham check fabric (poly-cotton blend) for the lining. Both of the fabrics are from stash.

And here is a picture of my sewing in progress that I posted in My Facebook Page
Happy sewing to you all!
