The Rules  for the Make a Garment a Month Challenge are very  simple.

1/. Every month you make a garment - for yourself.

2/. Post your plans for the upcoming month  on your blog and include reasons why you want to make the garment - maybe it is to learn a new skill, maybe it is to build your wardrobe, maybe it is just for fun, maybe it is just because you have always wanted to make it, maybe it's because you are trying to use up your stash (or pattern hoard).

3/.  Post a picture of you pattern and fabric choice on this blog.  Like this:

And please tell us to visit your blog for all the details (make sure you put in a link). Label your post with your name (ie. Sarah Liz)  and the pattern number you are using, for instance Butterick 5917.  If your pattern is a self draft, label it "self draft".  This way we can look up patterns and see what you plan to make.

4/. When you have finished your garment, write a post on your blog  about the garment, the pattern and how the process of making it went.  If you do a review on Pattern Review let us know, so we can also go there and see what you have to say :)

5/. Then  post a picture of your finished garment on this blog.  It would be great if you could model it because a garment does look better on a body.  And we sewers all love looking at the garment on a body.   Label it with your name and the pattern name and  number. (or magazine if you are using Burda, Ottobre or any other magazine.  If the pattern is a self draft label it "self draft")  These will be the only labels allowed.   Once again, add a link to your blog so we can visit and see what you have to say about the garment.  That's the real fun part.  For those of you that do not have blogs, just post on this blog only.

The label system will be used so that we can all see what garments each participant has made or plans to make, and we can also see easily find the completed garments.  This will be great when we have more than participant making each garment.
Lets make 2014 a really fantastic sewing year - all it takes is a garment a month.

  1. I use Wild Ginger's Patternmaster software to draft my patterns. Should I label them as self-draft or does that warrant another category? Thanks
