The September red and white dress

Hello everyone !

I used a lutterloh pattern from the 80s.
I don't know what to think of the result. Don't you think it could be improved ?
Any suggestion is welcome !
Thanks !

Karine

  1. I think it looks great on you - maybe just add a necklace?

  2. Are you comfortable with the fit of the sleeves? I would suggest that you measure your arm width with ease included and run a seam from there and merge in at the side to reduce some of the fullness.

    1. No, I'm not comfortable with these sleeves. I'm going to follow your advice and see if I feel better this way. Thanks !

  3. I really like this! What is it that you are not sure about? Sometimes I have that when things end up looking or fitting slightly differently than expected and it is just getting used to the finished product, rather than disliking it.

    1. Hello Natasha,
I think I'm out of my comfort zone with these sleeves. I'm going to try what Dorothy suggested to do, and see what happens. You're right about getting used to something. Who knows, it may become a favourite dress one day !

  4. I have love/hate relationships with these sorts of dresses too, that are big in the sleeve. I usually love them when it is very hot weather, as they are cool to wear. I agree, a big necklace will improve things no end :)

  5. I am a sucker for red an white and can't get past the flirty beautiful double hem, girl. :-) If I just had to be picky or something I would inquire about the looseness of the bodice. You have perky girls. I'd say show 'em by bringing in the bust some.

    Yaw'll say what?

    Cheers,

    Lyric

  6. P.S. You gave me an idea . . .

"asking" the ladies here for advice on projects. I am just now getting into altering and adjusting patterns so surely I will be needing it. :-)
