Original July Project: Hand Sewn Regency Day Dress


Well my sewing sisters.  I promised on my blog to share the good, bad, and ugly.  Sew, to keep my word here is a link to the down and dirty details of my Hand Sewn Regency Day Dress, July MAGAM project.




In the spirit of professional growth all opinions and commentary are welcome.

Thank gawd I can move on to the August project . . . phew!!!!

  2. Sewing was so different in those days, and this looks pretty much like I imagine people would have made. It looks lovely, and absolutely great for a first attempt.

  3. Wow, even though this dress didn't turn out as you'd hoped, still all work returns a profit, even if it's a learning profit. I like Regency dresses - and I watch Regency period movies sometimes just for the costumes. :-) The sleeves and the back seem odd - they tend to hike up in the back, they are very low cut with an optional "lace" to attach by the wearer. So, they used Elizabethan seams, eh? I went to that link. I've seen it in my hand sewing book, and it does look difficult to get right. Good job. I'm glad you'll keep trying that pattern.
