January Birthday Dress - Done

New dress
My new skill for the month was a FBA on princess seams.  I did ok on this dress, but it wasn't perfect.  And although I love pockets I feel like (in my size) the pockets on this are way to far forward.  Add on top of that the odd floppy neckline and this isn't a pattern I would make again.  Though I love this fabric enough to wear this dress over and over.

  2. What a pretty dress. I love the overall shape of the dress and the print. I also love it paired with the polka dot sweater. The pockets ARE in an odd place. I think that would be true for any size. What if you put a hook & eye at the neckline to keep it from flopping? Or fold both out and tack it and make it a design element? It's a cute lil dress so definitely wear it. Make it work!

  3. Agree with the previous comments. Pockets are a tad odd in placement & angle. Overall it looks great!

  4. This is cute dress and I like the fabric. I agree with M.Inez, you can sew the hook n eye on the neckline to ovoid floppy.

  5. Hi Shawn, this is a great dress - so do wear it again and again, if the fabric makes you happy. And the ideas about fixing the collar are great.

  6. You look great in this dress and I really like the idea of stitching back the collar and making a feature of it.

  7. It's a great dress - would it appeal more if you folded back the flappy bits (evenly) and sewed them down with a button?
